"At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place..." 5:16, "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." 6:12, "One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God."
This is a picture of my Grandfather sitting under a shade tree reading his Bible. So important to a busy man that he would spend time being alone with our God. He is showing me many years later that this was his heart's desire to study the Word.
I have so many pictures in my head of my own Dad each Sunday heading out the door to church with his Bible in hand. He went to a different denomination from Mom, my sister and I. So we would head to one church and he would go alone to another. But he was faithful. Now alone, with Mom gone, he has his Bible by his chair and often finding reading it when we walk in. What has he told me on what is important in his life? To read and study the Word.
Thank you Lord on this Father's Day for giving a legacy of faith such as this. Thank you Lord for giving me the background that pointed me to You.
