In Luke there are several times the verses tell Jesus went off to a place to worship and pray. Luke 4:42, "At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place..." 5:16, "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." 6:12, "One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God."
This is a picture of my Grandfather sitting under a shade tree reading his Bible. So important to a busy man that he would spend time being alone with our God. He is showing me many years later that this was his heart's desire to study the Word.
I have so many pictures in my head of my own Dad each Sunday heading out the door to church with his Bible in hand. He went to a different denomination from Mom, my sister and I. So we would head to one church and he would go alone to another. But he was faithful. Now alone, with Mom gone, he has his Bible by his chair and often finding reading it when we walk in. What has he told me on what is important in his life? To read and study the Word.
Thank you Lord on this Father's Day for giving a legacy of faith such as this. Thank you Lord for giving me the background that pointed me to You.

Oh, this picture is so precious! My prayer is that all would do this... stop and take the time to get to know the Lord on a more intimate basis.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is the best I've seen in a long time. I hope you have it displayed! And your dad's story is something as well...aren't we blessed to live in such God honoring families?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture to have! And how wonderful that your dad continues to find comfort in the Word. Yes, such a great legacy of faith.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful picture, I agree with the comment above.. We should all take time to get to know the Lord ona more intimate basis.
ReplyDeleteWhat great advise on life your dad has given you.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,

Such treasures -- this picture of your grandfather and the mental picture of your daddy. I can find my own father each morning in his office, not with his Bible, but reading it on his computer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing for you to have a father with such a great faith, and a grandfather like yours is a double blessing. Love the picture of your grandfather.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte

It is late and I need to get to bed for work tomorrow so will finish reading more later but wanted to send you a note on this one and of the white house with the texture around it. The photos are beautiful ... the stores so inspiring. Thank you for your boldness in faith to reach out to others.
