Dear Photograph

I saw this on another site called Dear Photograph. A picture of the past is held in front of the same background. I loved the concept. I enjoyed taking these pictures and having sweet memories.

Dear Photograph, I thank God for my big front porch that  has been a gathering place through the years for so many laughs and long conversations. Wish I could rock one more time beside Mom and share a laugh or story with her.

My parents (Mom has gone home) my husband and my daughter who now has children this age.

We must leave the generations that come behind us a heritage of faith and an invitation to go further still.(copied)

"Who am I O Sovereign Lord and what is my family that you have brought me this far?" 2 Sam. 7:18

In Christ Alone

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand,
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

A Family Bible

These verses and comments are from my Grandmother's Bible.
In this picture she is holding me with my mom and her mom beside her. I was thinking she looked rather old in the picture, then I realized she was younger than I am now. So say she was in her early 50's here, I have to wonder what she would have said or done different if she had know she would live 50 plus more years. Because she did. So she was only half way through with her life here.
This was one of her later in life Bibles. How many Bibles did she wear out in her 100 plus years? It has comments and is underlined throughout. It was her guidebook to live by. It told her of her hope and future.
If I live to be 100, how many Bibles will I wear out? How will my Bible show those left behind what was important to me on earth?
I want to leave several worn out Bibles during my life.

Be a David

I loved watching this chain of events. Preacher (our horse) was playing in the pasture and saw his buddy (our dog, Buddy) laying down and took off running to play
Buddy took one look at his huge friend who out weighed him by a thousand pounds, coming at a run and stood up and growled. Here is the result
We need to all be David's when the Goliath of this world attack us.

We have an enemy. He seeks to divert us from the course set for us by our Father. Once we are saved our enemy cannot destroy us. Stand your ground, look the enemy in the eye and walk in full confidence that he is already defeated and your victory is already guaranteed. You are a victorious overcomer, completely capable by God's Spirit within you to stand against the attacks of the enemy. Arm yourself for battle, meet him on the field of play and trust the Lord for your deliverance from your already-beaten foe. (from Priscilla Shirer, Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed-A Study of David)
"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion." (I Peter 5:8)
